For a state with relatively few wild trout streams,
Maryland documents them comprehensively. Below we've compiled a
listing of streams which were surveyed in the 1995-97 MBSS studies and
found to hold trout. These surveys remain the most comprehensive
coverage of Maryland's most productive trout watersheds - later surveys
have focused on larger - typically warmer - watersheds.
Each line of the table corresponds to a different
survey. In many cases, the same stream was surveyed more than
once. Each is listed separately. Trout species found are
listed in the final columns. Surprisingly, two streams in MD
support cut-throat trout, presumably descendents of a stocking
experiment.
