Shenandoah National Park provides some of the premiere brook trout habitat, not only in Virginia, but also for much of the east coast, excepting parts of northern New England and upstate New York.

Because the park is a pilgrimage site for many wild trout fishermen, and
the streams are so widely covered in many guidebooks, we've provided
extensive mapping of the major drainages in the park. However, do
keep in mind that most of the other wild trout streams in Virginia are
also on Federal land, and receive much less fishing pressure than in the
park. These include several areas that represent pristine brook
trout habitat. Check out non-Park resources here (downloading big
PDF files, be patient): Click here for a detailed stream/road map for the northern end of Shenandoah National Park. Click on the fish icons in the map below for a topo map of the drainage.
