In recent weeks, a new mapping source has become available on a trial basis which maps brook trout habitat along the east coast.  A low resolution map is shown below.  It's interesting to scroll down to the original stream map we created using elevation contours.  You'll note a very high correlation between the green/yellow areas (the best brook trout habitat) and elevation.  The few high-elevation areas which are marked red are most likely areas where habitat degradation has occurred, most likely from development (ski areas?).
