This page, created for the 2006 site, shows the 57 wild trout streams from the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department's (IFWD) web site. 55 of 57 have links to a topo map of the area (I couldn't locate two.) It's not completely clear why the IFWD chose these streams over the thousands of others they might have selected, though we expect that they believe the fish populations and density will support a rewarding sports fishing experience. Which isn't to say you can't have fun on that little stream up the road from your friend's cottage.
The topo maps have higher resolution than might appear on the browser. Note you can also view these streams on the interactive map page to get driving directions, or download the KML of these spots to view in Google Earth.
