California
Measured diagonally, California is 800 miles long. Encompassing the highest and lowest elevations in the continental US, and habitat ranging from desert to termperate rain forests, California boasts numerous wild trout species, some native to California alone.
We're collecting a raft of wonderful data sets about California and publishing them as quickly as we can.
Most of the new California data describes native species. The image on the left, for example, shows the winter (turquoise) and summer (orange) seasonal steelhead runs. We've created KMZs of three different datasets covering distribution, critical habitat, and abundance from data originally published by CalFish and the NOAA.
All of these datasets are currently available for download the Steelhead download link on the "California Resources" menu in the sidebar.
We are also now featuring a set of data about native species created by Dr. Peter Moyle at UC Davis.
We'll be adding more content as we find the time. You might want to check the "California" section of the downloads system. We'll sneak useful documents there which won't necessarily be written up here.
If you'd like more information about California, please register and post a comment. The areas which get the most interest from our users tend to receive the highest priority when we decide what to do next. Registering will also put you on our email list, and updates on what's new 4-6 times a year. We share our list with no one else.
